How to get rid of stuff?
When you want to start decluttering make sure to do it one room at a time. This way you are doing a thorough job and won’t need to worry about decluttering for the next 6 months.
The key to a clutter-free home, is making sure to keep it that way.
Once you’ve tidied up a room and it looks perfect, the minute you find something is out of place or not in the right spot – attend to it right away.
Try not to let a 5-minute job turn into an hour’s worth of work.
Declutter your home checklist
For those of us that love working with a checklist, I have a free printable that you can download at the bottom of this post. Feel free to use it every time you are on a mission to declutter your home!
The good thing about a checklist is that you can see what items you need to throw. Otherwise, you will be walking around the house not knowing where to begin.
If you tick items off the list as you go, you will get this done a lot quicker.
Have a trash bag handy so you can throw things in it right away.
Before you trash…
A few things to keep in mind before you get rid of your clutter;
1. If it is in good condition but it’s not something you use anymore, consider selling it online for some extra cash. Here are some websites that pay for secondhand items – thredUP, Poshmark and Kidizen.
2. Alternatively, you can also consider giving it to charity. One good deed goes a long way:)
3. If its something you can re-purpose then you can make do with it. For example, if you have mason jars that you don’t use anymore, you can try these cheap mason jar decor ideas to spruce up your home.
