How do you do Overnight Oats?

Overnight oats are made by soaking oats in the refrigerator with either milk or yoghurt in an airtight container. A mason jar works well for this.

When you leave your overnight oats in the fridge they tend to absorb the liquid throughout the night making them soft to eat the next day. You can play around with the flavours adding your favourite sweeteners, nuts or fruits of your choice.

Are Overnight Oats healthy?

Since you avoid cooking the oats you enjoy a wholesome meal in the morning. Oatmeal is generally known for lowering cholesterol and does good for your heart.

You get added health benefits by adding fresh nuts and fruit to your oatmeal in the morning.

Things you can add are:

  • Coconut
  • Berries
  • Mango
  • Banana
  • Peanut butter
  • Chocolate/Nutella
  • Chopped Almonds/Pistachios/Pecan

Is Overnight Oats good for weight loss?

Short answer, yes.

Oatmeal can help you slim down as it keeps you fuller for longer. This stops you from frequent snacking either mid-morning and leading up to lunch.

How long do Overnight Oats last?

Overnight oats tend to last roughly 3-4 days in the fridge. The longer they are left soaking the softer they become. This works well for those that enjoy a more soft smooth texture.

While overnight oats are made up of three main ingredients – oats, milk and yoghurt, here are a few variations to make this a tasty breakfast, every time.
