The Promises of God

The world can be a disheartening place with all the tragedies that abound, but take heart – you are not alone.

You are a child of God and He has promised so much to His children.

As Jesus proclaimed in the Gospel of John (15:19), “As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.”

So it is true, we belong to God not the world and as such He has promised us many things.

First and foremost, God promises to love us eternally and without end.

God is love and He proves to us again and again through the anecdotes in the Bible that His love is unceasing.

He loved us enough to give us dominion over all his creatures, to save us multiple times from our own wrong-doing, and ultimately to sacrifice His own beloved Son so that we may be redeemed to Him and join Him forever in His Heavenly Kingdom.

God promises to be our strength and guide us through the trials of this earthly life.

Through our struggles if we turn to Him and rely on His promise, there is no obstacle we cannot overcome. He promises to fight for us as we fight for love and what is good and just. Through His intercession we cannot fail.

Our Eternal Father has made us a promise to hear every prayer that crosses our lips and fills our hearts.

He knows everything we seek to ask Him even before we know ourselves.

Although we may not receive the answer to our prayers in the way that we intend, He knows best how to address our needs and His plan is assuredly greater than any we could dream up for ourselves.

God promises that He has plans for your life to be wonderful.

If you accept His will and follow the path that leads to Him, you cannot falter in anything that you do. He wants the absolute best for you and has been planning the abundances in your life since before you were born. Trust in His promises to help you prosper.

Peace is a difficult entity to acquire but God promises that He will grant it to you if only you are willing to accept Him into your heart. God’s peace is eternal and cuts away the stress and baggage of this worldly life. He only wants what is best for you and through His peace He can grant you a place in His Kingdom.

Although God’s promises are innumerable, a last promise to mention is His assurance that He will never leave us. God is always us even if we feel utterly alone, we are not. He has promised to stay by our side through whatever trials we endure and even if we reject Him, He will still never abandon us.

While it is comforting to hear these promises, how can we know they are true? All we need to do is turn to the Bible to see the countless examples of how God has fulfilled these promises in the past and continues to fulfil them for us today.
